Illuminated Jellyfish

Another piece inspired by my daughter's journeys -- a photograph taken at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, this watercolor depicts a tank of jellyfish wonderfully illuminated by backlighting. Painting the tentacles almost killed me!

The Old Stone Cottage

My daughter traveled to Forest Park in Portland, Oregon this past spring, and took some amazing photos. This painting was inspired by one of these photos - an old stone cottage on a hillside, in the middle of a mossy woods. I had such a good time painting the stones - each one is slightly different. This is a large 22" x 30" watercolor piece.

The "Girly" Series

These have been my Summer project - a series of paintings depicting what I call "girly" items in whimsical settings, each with a proverb relating to the subject. There are four in all: shoes, hats, purses, and jewelry. I still have more paintings in my head, but these four are a good start. They are on full size watercolor paper, and as a result, took a very long time to complete. But, I think it was worth it. Stay tuned for more "girly" paintings about sunglasses, scarves, gloves....the list is endless.
